I’m an out of town bride and cannot meet in person. How will I communicate ideas?
PHONE consultations are a must. While many things can be accomplished via email, I greatly value the spoken word. Pinterest and shared image galleries are also a tremendous help. Please share.
I’m visiting Charleston on a weekend to meet with vendors. Will you be available?
Since our business is a weekend business, our availability will be limited. For a Saturday wedding, we begin FULL time prep work and design two days prior to the event. Weekday consultations are preferred. We will do our best to accommodate exceptions to this rule.
How early can I get my bridal bouquet the day of my wedding?
We recommend the bridal flowers arriving 2 hours before the ceremony. It’s best to keep the bouquets in a cool environment. This prevents wilting, browning, and potential damage to your very special product. Remember, this is a perishable product!
Where should the bridal bouquets be delivered?
That’s a personal decision! We recommend that the bridal flowers, corsages, and boutonnieres be delivered to either the ceremony location or to wherever the bride is getting dressed. We are flexible.
I plan to have bridal portraits taken a few months before the wedding. Can you prepare a portrait bouquet?
Yes, we will be glad to accommodate such requests and will do our best to create a bouquet similar to the one you will carry the day of the wedding.
My wedding isn’t for another year but I would like to get a quote now to help better plan my budget. Are you able to quote that far in advance?
Proposals can be created as far in advance as you need and we will guarantee our prices. Additional items and services requested closer to the event date, however, could create a change in the proposal’s balance.
What if I have a last minutes change in plans…..how close to the date can we edit the proposal?
We require that proposals be finalized 2 weeks prior to the event date. Your flowers are ordered from suppliers in advance and require careful selection. We need the two weeks to do our best for you.
How far in advance should I sign a contract?
We recommend reserving your date with us six months in advance. The spring and fall months are the busiest times of year and it’s not all that uncommon for us to be “booked up.” A signed contract and deposit will reserve your event with Charleston Blooms. Please contact your designer for additional contract and deposit questions.
How much is this going to cost me?
All budgets are different and we do our best to work with ALL of them. An appropriate “baseline” budget will range anywhere from $499 to $3000. Why the drastic difference? It all depends on the number of items needed and the market availability and price of the flowers requested. For the 2012 wedding season, our average budget—for both bridal party flowers AND reception flowers—was approximately $1600. This includes tax and a small delivery and set up charge.
I’m a DIY Bride. Can I buy bulk flowers from you to do my own wedding?
We have full respect for the DIY Bride. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide wholesale flowers. We are a Special Event floral design business and buy flowers for our specific events. In general, our product cost is significantly lower than what you’ll be able to get on the retail market and feel that many brides overlook the value we can give them. When “DIY’ing,” please be sure you’re adding ALL of your materials cost, plus your time, plus the price you pay for inconvenience. Give a local florist a shot. You’ll be surprised at what you can get!
